CHOCOLATE-ORANGE CAKE
1 18.25 oz. pkg. devil's food
cake mix
8 oz. sour cream
4 oz. pkg. chocolate pudding mix
4 eggs
½ cup vegetable oil
½ cup water
1/4 cup coffee liqueur (or orange)
2 Tbsp. orange peel
1 tsp. cinnamon (if desired)
1 12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1 cup sugar
½ cup (1 stick) butter
1/4 cup orange liqueur
1/4 cup water
DIRECTIONS FOR CAKE
Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour 10 cup
Bundt pan. Using an electric mixer, beat the cake mix and the next 8 ingredients
until well blended (3 minutes). Stir in chocolate chips. Pour into pan. Bake
approximately 1 hour.
DIRECTIONS FOR GLAZE
Combine the sugar, butter, orange liqueur and
water in a heavy saucepan. Stir over low heat until butter melts and sugar
dissolves (3 minutes). Increase heat and boil 2 minutes. Cool completely.
When cake is removed from oven, immediately
spoon glaze over hot cake and let stand 30 minutes. Turn cake onto platter and
cool completely. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
